Fabulatech Advanced USB Redirection allows for Printing, Scanning, and Webcam redirection when it is not native to the VDI infrastructure
The FabulaTech USB-over-Network product is a third-party extension to NoTouch that allows to redirect/forward generic USB devices over the network. More information is available here: http://www.fabulatech.com/partners/stratodesk
Overview
The FabulaTech solution consists of three components - one on the Windows side, two on the Linux/NoTouch side:
- Windows software. Please get this from FabulaTech and install the correct version for your operating system (32-bit vs. 64-bit) [1]
- The FabulaTech USB redirection background process.
- Individual plugins for FreeRDP and the Citrix client.
You do not have to install anything on the endpoint side. NoTouch already contains the latest FabulaTech components. You only need to switch it on - in two places (both the service, and the individual plugins).
FreeRDP
To use FabulaTech with FreeRDP, please
- Switch the FabulaTech service to on - "Services" -> "FabulaTech USB redirection"
- Switch the FabulaTech USB forwarding to on - your connection configuration -> "FreeRDP" -> "FabulaTech USB"
This is also valid if you run FreeRDP from the web browser (Remote Desktop web portal). Make sure you have set the "FabulaTech USB" parameter to on in the FreeRDP parameters of your browser connection.
Citrix Receiver
While Citrix XenDesktop contains a builtin USB redirection, XenApp does not. In these cases FabulaTech is of great benefit.
To use FabulaTech with Citrix, please
- Switch the FabulaTech service to on - "Services" -> "FabulaTech USB redirection"
- Switch the FabulaTech USB forwarding to on - your connection configuration -> "Citrix" -> "FabulaTech USB"
This is also valid if you run FreeRDP from the web browser (Citrix web portal). Make sure you have set the "FabulaTech USB" parameter to on in the Citrix parameters of your browser connection.
