Hotkeys available to NoTouch OS Users

A hotkey is a key combination that, when pressed by the user will lead to an immediate action (such as launching a program, closing a window, etc). NoTouch supports many different hotkeys that can be configured. You will find the Hotkey definitions on the client under "Input" -> "Keyboard" -> "Hotkeys", in NoTouch Center, in the Group Settings, there is a "Hotkeys" tab.

Important predefined hotkeys

• Announce. Announce or Send new configurations and changes.

ctrl+alt+n

• Next (local) window. Alt+Ctrl+Tab. This is the equivalent to what Windows is doing on Alt+Tab.
• Increase speaker volume. Alt+KP_Add, meaning that if you press Alt and the + key on the numerical keypad, your speaker volume will go up (louder).
• Decrease speaker volume. Alt+KP_Subtract, meaning that if you press Alt and the - key on the numerical keypad, your speaker volume will go down (less loud).
• Identify to NoTouch Center. Ctrl+Alt+i
• Eject removable media. Alt+F6
• Reload/Refresh removable drives. Alt+F5
• Show system information, hostname and IP address. Alt+Ctrl+s (also known as sysadmin's best friend)
• Show system log. Alt+Ctrl+g
• Show a connection overview. Alt+Ctrl+a
• Show local configuration application. Alt+Ctrl+c
• Show and connect to available WiFi networks. Alt+Ctrl+w
• Run Teamviewer (if Teamviewer is present in the OS image). Alt+Ctrl+t
• Switch multimonitor/display setup. Alt+Ctrl+d

Changing hotkey definitions

When dealing with hotkeys there are two caveats:

• Some connection modes, such as fullscreen RDP, may "eat" all hotkeys away - so they would not have any effect at all
• Do not define hotkeys that have effects in your VDI connections, such as the typical, well-known Windows hotkeys like Alt-F4 etc. This will confuse your users.

Disabling a hotkey

Simply blank out the value of the hotkey you want to disable. Make sure it is empty.

Definition syntax

Valid key designators are Alt, Ctrl, Shift, F1-F9, a-z, 0-9, and the special keys Up, Down, Esc, Tab, and the keys on the numeric keypad KP_Add, KP_Subtract, KP_Divide, KP_Multiply, KP_Enter. You can combine keys with the + plus sign, so for example Alt+Ctrl+x would mean the user user has to press Alt, Ctrl and the x key simultaneously to trigger the action.

System actions

In NoTouch Center, on Group settings or on a client you will find the parameter subsection "Hotkeys", containing a list of predefined system actions that can be triggered by hotkeys. Among them are audio volume control, identify, run Control Center, switch to another (local) window, etc.

User-defined hotkeys

You can define hotkeys that will execute arbitrary Linux shell commands.

In NoTouch Center, there is one parameter for custom definitions. Use a syntax of comma separated key-value-pairs of the form KEYDEF=COMMAND, such as:
