Create or Configure a Parallels RAS connection with Stratodesk NoTouch

Information about Parallels RAS and how to configure the client

Stratodesk NoTouch includes the latest Parallels RAS client, but please note that only the x86 based client is currently supported.

NoTouch Center Basic configuration

To create a Parallels RAS connection in NoTouch Center, follow the steps below:

  1. Create a connection
  2. Set the "Connection mode" parameter to "Parallels RAS"
  3. Enter the host name to connect to into the parameter "Connection target" as either FQDN (Preferred) or the IP address of the server or Load balancer

Changes to the connection are automatically saved. An example of the connection configuration is below.

Additional Parallels RAS parameters can be configured, and these will be unique to each environment. Please note that if a Parallels RAS policy exists, this will take precedence over any settings that are configured in NoTouch.

In the Connection Mode drop-down list, select one of the following options:

  • Gateway Mode. Parallels Client connects to the RAS Secure Gateway and the session connection is tunnelled through the first available connection. This mode is ideal for servers which are only reachable via the gateway and do not require a high level of security.
  • Gateway SSL Mode. Same as the gateway mode above, but uses encryption to secure the data.
  • Direct Mode. Parallels Client first connects to the RAS Secure Gateway for the best available terminal server and then connects directly to that particular server.  This is best used when the Parallels Client and the terminal server are on the same network.
  • Direct SSL Mode. Same as the direct mode above, but uses encryption to secure the data.

NoTouchOS Basic configuration

  3. Set the "Connection mode" parameter to "Parallels RAS"
  4. Enter the host name to connect to into the parameter "Connection target" as either FQDN (Preferred) or the IP address of the server or Load balancer
  5. Save the connection configuration

Connecting from NoTouchOS

When connecting from NoTouchOS, double click the connection icon, and the user will be prompted to enter their user credentials.

Once authenticated, a list of published desktops and applications will be displayed, and double click a resource to launch it.

Is is possible to automatically launch a published resource, and this is configured in the Parallels RAS Server Console.
